An ancient tradition that is still followed today, birthstones are a collection of precious gemstones where each individual gemstone correlates to a particular month in which an individual is born. With each gemstone possessing its own unique meaning and characteristics, it is thought that these properties will hold true for the wearer and also bring good luck. Some months have more than one gemstone giving the people born in those months a choice of different stones to wear.
